HomeLandenArubaDH | Air Century begins new routes to the Caribbean
in addition to its current destinations San Juan, Puerto Rico, SXM and Haiti, later this month, the airline will open the routes Curaçao and Aruba

AIRPORT–Dominican Republic airline Air Century arrived at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) on Monday morning, opening the St. Maarten-Santo Domingo route with flight Y2-162 which had departed from Santo Domingo earlier Monday. Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin and PJIA management were on hand to welcome the owners of the airline.

After dignitaries held a brief ceremony toasting to the success of the new route, Air Century Commercial Director Fabio Nina said, “By opening these new routes, we extend a bridge of affection for all the Dominicano brothers who reside in those islands full of history, music, culture, rich gastronomy and dreamy landscapes. They can now count on a real Dominicano Airline.

“The stellar moment we experienced today would not have been possible without the necessary and decisive support of the country’s aeronautical authorities, to whom I express my deep gratitude, the executives of the Princess Juliana International Airport, but mostly because of the continued preference of our valued travellers who trust in the punctuality, comfort and warmth of our service.”

The airline, which operates from La Isabela Dr. Joaquín Balaguer International Airport, plans to offer more options to its customers, in addition to its current destinations San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Later this month, the airline will open the routes Curaçao and Aruba.

Prime Minister Marlin thanked the airline for showing confidence in St. Maarten and wished the company much success with its new route.

Flights to Curaçao will depart every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:00am; flights to St. Maarten on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 2:15pm; and flights to Aruba on Tuesdays and Sundays at 2:15pm, with the punctuality that characterises the airline.

The flights to St. Maarten will be carried out with a Saab 340, which can seat 34 passengers. Arrival time in St. Maarten is 4:00pm with the return flight leaving an hour later.
During the ceremony held at the airport terminal, the Fire Department water truck conducted the traditional water salute when the airplane landed.

The local and international air transport company was founded in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in March 1992 by Pilot Captain Omar Chahin Lama.
