POND ISLAND–The Council of Ministers has appointed former Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs as St. Maarten’s representative on the Steering Committee of the Dutch Recovery Trust Fund administered by the World Bank.

Under the Trust Fund, decisions on the financing of recovery and resilience projects are made by the Steering Committee, in which Sint Maarten, the World Bank and the Netherlands will be equally represented. This week Gumbs will meet with Frans Weekers, the representative of the Netherlands on the Steering Committee.

On June 12, Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin and Gumbs will travel to Washington, D.C. for the first meeting of the Steering Committee to discuss ongoing and future recovery projects that may be financed via the Trust Fund.
