DH | World Bank training for private sector June 13

HomeMediaDH | World Bank training for private sector June 13
In totaal zegde Nederland meer dan een miljard gulden toe

BELAIR–The World Bank in collaboration with government will host a presentation/training for the private sector on World Bank procurement procedures, themed “Doing Business with the World Bank,” in Belair Community Centre on June 13 from 2:00 to 6:30pm.

The objective of the presentation is to provide the private sector with the protocol to facilitate private-public partnerships through the framework of tender procedures, said government.

While the wider private sector is welcome to attend, specific groups that will benefit from the presentation/training include providers of a wide range of goods, all forms of consulting and non-consulting services and contractors.

The presentation will cover a general overview on The World Bank Group Guiding Principles and how goods, consulting services, non-consulting services and works will be procured (hired) for actions funded by the World Bank-administered Dutch Recovery Trust Fund.

The recovery and reconstruction of St. Maarten post-Hurricane Irma will include actual construction work, will cross a number of sectors and will yield residual spinoff for all additional sectors, benefiting the country as a whole on a short-term as well as long-term basis, said government.

Following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017, the Dutch government set up a 470-million-euro recovery trust fund for St. Maarten. World Bank procurement procedures will be applied to all expenditures made from the trust fund. Prior to the establishment of the trust fund, St. Maarten had historically never collaborated with the World Bank.

Due to restricted capacity, companies or organisation are restricted to a maximum two representatives at the session. To register by June 11, e-mail
