According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gwinnett County (Ga.) police arrived at Jones’ home in the Sugarloaf Country Club in Duluth, Ga. at 1:25 a.m. on the morning of Christmas Day.
The police investigated the suspected domestic incident and determined that there was sufficient cause to arrest Jones and charge him with battery.
The Gwinnett police incident report indicates that Jones’ wife Nicole told officers that the couple had hosted a Christmas party the night before, and that Jones had been drinking during the party.
Later, while the two were trying to construct a table for Christmas morning, Jones grew angry. The fight escalated, and according to Nicole Jones, Andruw Jones placed his hands around her neck and said,

“I want to kill you, I want to [expletive] kill you.”

Jones denied hurting his wife, but the police report indicated that Nicole Jones had

“visible injuries.”

Jones was booked into Gwinnett County jail at about 4 a.m. and was released about seven hours later on $2,500 bond.
Best known for his 12 years with the Atlanta Braves, the team with which he made his major league debut, Jones has bounced around the majors for the last few years, playing for the Dodgers, Rangers, White Sox and Yankees since 2008. A few weeks ago, he signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal to play with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan.
An exceptional outfielder, he has won 10 Gold Gloves in his 16 full major league seasons.
