Confirmation is coming in from Curacao and the Netherlands that former police officer, and former bodyguard to Parliamentarian Romain J. Lavillle has been arrested.
Rogelio Gregory Koeiman is a former Curacao officer who was caught up in the killing of an artist during carnival in Curacao several years ago. A warrant for his arrest was issued by the United States, after two large shipments of cocaine was confiscated upon its arrival to the USA.
Koeiman was in St Maarten working as a bodyguard to Parliamentarian Romain Laville at the time. Koeiman then went to Curacao. He was arrested, but Curacao refused to extradite him to the United States. He was instead, sent back to St Maarten, where he was re-arrested.
The video shows Koeiman being led out of the St Maarten courthouse to fight extradition to the US.
The case was ruled ‘double jeapordy’, meaning that St Maarten could not try Koeiman for the very same charges that he had just been released from Curacao with. Koeiman was promptly released.
Several months ago, a judge ruled that Koeiman could be extradicted to the United States.
According to eyewitness sources, SXM St Maarten KPSM police dept, surrounded Rogelio Gregory Koeiman saturdaynight with several squad cars at approx. 12:00 am.
Koeiman was said to have looked surprised as the officers handcuffed him, and led him to the police squad cars. I was just contacted by Curacao. They said that if he is on his way to the United States, they will let us know.
