WILLEMSTAD, SANTO DOMINGO – AVA Airways, represented by Olivier Arrindell and Giovanni Atalita, and Capital Partners, represented by Dan Smith have signed a 65 million dollar deal yesterday in the Dominican Republic.

This deal is an initial investment to start the aviation company AVA Airways. From this 65 million dollar deal, 20 million is immediately available starting January 2017 to finalize the process to initiate operations from the Dominican Republic.

The representatives of AVA Airways indicated that the company will start operating to and from 15 countries in the Caribbean. One of those destinations is Curaçao. The airline will officially request the landing permits for the island. The company is now doing its utmost to start operating in the first half of the year. There will be several inaugural flights in the first six months.

“Curaçao could have become our base of operations. We’ve been requesting a permit since 2014 but to no avail. We will open a small office in Curaçao with a few employees to sell tickets and give information,” said Arrindell during an interview with Curaçao Chronicle.

AVA Airways will start with 4 aircraft type Airbus A319-200. According to Arrindell these aircraft are very comfortable for the passengers.

“The Capital Partner Team took its time to study our business model and the concept we presented to them and they believe in us. We have their support 100%.”

“We requested our economic permit in Curaçao in 2014 but for reasons purely political we weren’t able to receive this. Our request was rejected in December 2015 and we did appeal. We are still waiting for the Minister of Aviation to answer our question on why our request was denied.”
