WILLEMSTAD – BearingPoint Caribbean announces leadership changes that will position the company for continued long-term international growth. Former Minister of Finance José Jardim and Mr Avinash Grootens have been appointed to Managing Directors of BearingPoint Caribbean, while Mr Alan Henriquez will step down.

Alan Henriquez

Mr. Alan Henriquez, Managing Director, will retire from the company. It will mark an end to an impressive 35+years career with BearingPoint Caribbean and its predecessors. Throughout the years Henriquez has played a vital role in the transformation of the company. According to Peter Grootens: “Under Alan’s leadership, many new IT platforms were introduced to our customers and Alan helped to put us on the road of constant technological innovation. His contributions are significant and his strategic vision and formidable sounding board skills have made BearingPoint Caribbean into what it is today.” Henriquez will continue to serve as a part-time basis advisor concerning technology and the latest ICT developments. Effective immediately, José Jardim and Avinash Grootens will assume new roles as Managing Directors of BearingPoint Caribbean. José Jardim

JardimJosé Jardim was appointed as Minister of Finance of Curaçao during the last four years. During his tenure, José managed to leave a firm footprint on the island’s public finances. His vision and leadership on the front of drastic modernization of the tax administration served as a catalyst for the transformation towards a balanced government budget. Under his tenure he managed to shift away from a culture of non-compliance to legally binding fiscal rules to an integral compliance cycle. Peter Grootens: “It is this what makes José an extraordinary fit for BearingPoint Caribbean, but most importantly for our customers. We approached José once he had left office and challenged him to put his knowledge, experience and impressive track record at the service of our communities and clients. As someone that served as a prominent civil servant in the preceding 15 years before his tenure as Minister of Finance, he knows the ins and outs of the functioning of small scale public administrations and all their constraints. He is distinctly aware of their challenges to bring about fundamental transformation towards fiscal sustainability. He not only speaks their language, he deeply understands how to better implement major transformations and modernizations.” José will put his leadership and skills to work to further expand BearingPoint Caribbean’s services in the broader Caribbean region and thereby contribute to a fast-growing export product with great potential for the sustainable economic development of our countries.

Avinash Grootens

Having worked at the firm since 2015, Avinash Grootens will assume his new role as Managing Director, overseeing International Business Development, Finance and Operations Control. Avinash is a seasoned executive with a special focus on business development and high level clients. He brings in a wealth of experience accumulated in the past two decennia. Living in the United States since 2002 he has worked with numerous multinationals in North and South America bringing new products to market and developing sales strategies. Before moving to the USA he worked in Rotterdam for KPMG Audit where he also completed his Master’s Degree in Business Economics at Erasmus. In his new role Avinash will lead the efforts in increasing BearingPoint Caribbean’s presence in the Caribbean region.
