WILLEMSTAD – In press release emitted by the Member of Parliament for MAN, Eugene Cleopa, he indicates that after all the efforts of the government to safeguard the connection between the ABC Islands and to prevent InselAir from going bankrupt, he observed some practices in the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) to boycott the airline.
The MP says that he has information that there is one of the officials at the CCAA that is related to the owner of another airline on the island who is deliberately boycotting InselAir. InselAir is having a hard time getting the permits to operate again one of its MD-80 jets. “This issue of conflict of interest at the CCAA is against all rules established by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA),” says Cleopa.
According to the MP, if the Minister in charge of aviation, Zita Jesus-Leito does not act diligently, InselAir will have to request for more layoffs because they cannot maintain the number of employees they have right now by operating two or three aircraft.
Cleopa hopes that the Minister will solve this situation as soon as possible keeping into account the rules of the FAA.
