WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) organized a meet the press to inform the media about the latest developments at the airport, especially with the expansion project that is currently taking place.

After the press conference, CAP held a food tasting where all the new stores, facilities, restaurants and shops were introduced.

Airport Development Manager Bryan Elshot presented the technical aspects of the expansion project. Elshot gave a presentation about everything travelers or airport visitors will see during and after the construction period. One of the aspects of the expansion is the transferring of the arrival hall, which will soon be at the old airport building. This area is currently being remodeled for this purpose. A temporary corridor will guide the passengers to this new renovated arrival hall.

In 2016/2017 CAP will construct the new terminal which will connect the new airport building to the old one. The new terminal with three levels will offer 50% more space compared to what is currently the case. It will also offer an infrastructure that promotes the flow of travelers coming in and going out. Another important aspect is that this remodeling will bring a better division between the area of arriving travelers and those who are in transit.

By the end of the year CAP will change the parking system as was already announced. It’s the same system used at the Schiphol airport and the London Heathrow. The new system offers the users a modern payment machine both in the building as outside where they can pay cash or with a bank card.

Last year CAP initiated the construction work of the concession plaza. Here airport users can enjoy a boulevard with more stores, consumption facilities and more ambiance. Currently there are various shops like Cafe Barista, Sports Bar, Grab&Go, Zylo, Aldeasa, Sky Delicatessen, Britt Curaçao, Omni and Cinnabon and the news ones Wendy’s, Seal & Go, Aunty Anne’s, CuraCare Health & Beauty together with the well-known Juan Valdez.

During the food tasting, members of the press were able to try the various products offered at the Curaçao International Airport.
