WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) recently invited the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) to Curaçao to discuss the latest cruise developments including the construction of the second Mega pier.

The delegation of FCCA consisted of Mrs. Michele Paige, President of the FCCA, Mr. Federico Gonzalez-Denton, Associate Vice president of the Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. And Mr. Russell Daya, Executive Director of the Disney Cruise Line. During the visit CPA also arranged for the FCCA executives to meet with Dr. Steven Martina, Minister of the Economic Development to elaborate on the growth of the cruise industry in general and the preparations needed for Curacao to receive more and larger vessels with the completion of the new pier. With the expansion of the port the FCCA urged all to be prepared to handle the larger volume of passengers that this will bring.

The Curaçao Cruise Task Force consisting of the Ministry of the Economic Development (MEO), the Chamber of Commerce, The Curacao Tourist Board, Curoil, DMO, and the Agents Association also got the opportunity to share with the FCCA the different efforts in place to further enhance Curacao as a destination.

The FCCA once again stressed that Curacao is a top destination and commended all stakeholders for their commitment. The meetings were concluded with a visit to the Megapier construction site.
