WILLEMSTAD, CARACAS – The former Minister of Finance during the Cabinet Schotte, George Jamaloodin was arrested last Friday in Venezuela.
He is a suspect in four different cases, namely Maximus, Bientu, Germaniun and the Divi Divi case.
The arrest took place at the request of the Public Prosecution in Curaçao.
In an official statement, the prosecution of Curacao indicates that the Curaçao-born Jamaloodin was arrested in Venezuela at the request of Justice in Willemstad and that it is related to suspicion of corruption committed during his time as Minister of Finance.
In the Bientu case, he is suspected of forgery. His brother, the lottery boss, Robbie dos Santos already received a sentence in this case.
The Germanium case is an investigation into what took place after Bientu. Jamaloodin and others are suspects in this case.
The Divi Divi case involves the subsidy of 450.000 guilders to a foundation that works for the Steenrijk neighborhood. Former Minister of Finance Dr Jose Jardim filed a complaint in this case and Jamaloodin’s properties were searched.
Jamaloodin is still a suspect in the Maximus case which is the investigation into the intellectual authors of the murder of the former political leader Helmin Wiels.
Jamaloodin fled to Venezuela was months ago. Between Curaçao and the neighboring country here is no extradition treaty, but that does not mean they cannot assist each other in the field of justice, said the Public Prosecution in their statement.

De oplichting cq verduistering van een groot gedeelte subsidiegeld a naf 450.000,00 is makelijk te bewijsen aangezien er nog voor geen 50.000,00 piekenjannen is verbouwd. Dus 400 duizend gulden foetsie?. Het gat in het net voor Jamaloodin is, dat hij met kleuters zonder verstand deze oplichting verduistering in elkaar heeft gezet , rede! hebberigheid voor zich zelf.
