WILLEMSTAD – The PAR faction in parliament has taken note of the public declarations made by Alex Rosaria MP in the sense that the problems between Minister Earl Balborda and his political leader Humphrey Davelaar MP, are an internal affair of the party.
Rosaria also said that it is not necessary to bring this issue to parliament. This, after Davelaar personally indicated to the PAIS faction that he does not support Balborda as minister anymore.
According to the PAR MP, Armin Konket, this declaration is against the Constitution. Rosaria has the obligation, according to his oath before the Governor, to uphold and defend the Constitution. The Constitution clearly indicates that a minister cannot continue in his position when he doesn’t have the support of the majority in parliament. This means that the advice given by Rosaria to Davelaar, to deal with this issue within his party, is the wrong advice.
This advice entails that, for example, if Davelaar’s party PNP decides to take two months to come to a conclusion, Balborda will continue working as a minister during this time without the support of a majority in parliament. This, of course, is not possible. There is no doubt that Rosaria, after consulting the Constitution, will come to the conclusion that it is parliament and the government that have to deal with this issue.
