WILLEMSTAD – The Multidisciplinary Project Team (MDPT) is in charge of the negotiations for the future and the modernization of the oil refinery in Curaçao. The MDPT is currently negotiating with the Chinese State Company Guangdong Zhenrong Energy (GZE).
Recently some of the members of the MDPT have resigned. This is the current composition of the project team. Clift Christiaan is the Chairman of the team and Irving Moenir-Alam is the Vice-Chairman. The other members are Errol Cova, Anko van der Woude, Jaime de Sola and Ralph James.
Christiaan indicated that he did not receive any documents from the previous chairman Werner Wiels for a smooth transition of the chairmanship. Christiaan did indicate that the total spending of the MDPT during Wiels’ time was 18.7 million guilders (about 10 million dollars). This was paid by the public company Refineria di Korsou (Curaçao Refinery). This was mapped out by the Government’s Accountants Bureau (SOAB).
Wiels clearly stated to his successor that he is not prepared to cooperate with SOAB’s investigation. The SOAB will also investigate why the so-called due diligence requirement for the GZE was in the Memorandum of Understanding of September 2016 but no longer in the Heads of Agreement of November of that same year.

@Pukkie,
