Minister of Education Irene Dick goes to court to force teachers to go back to work

WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Education, Irene Dick is preparing a summary proceeding to force the teachers to go back to work tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the fourth day in a row that the teachers are on strike.

According to the union leader, Darius Plantijn, the teachers do not agree with the proposals of the government. They have drafted their own proposals and are waiting for an answer from Minister Dick and Minister of Government Administration, Etienne van der Horst.

The Minister said that she’s the only one who can say whether there is school tomorrow or not. “For my part the children can go to school tomorrow.” The teachers indicated that they will be at the union headquarters tomorrow during working hours.

Curaçao Chronicle is pending more information.
