WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Traffic, Transportion and Spatial Planning recently signed the ministerial decree in which she issued an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Economic Permit to BlueSkies Helicopter. With this decree, the helicopter operator BlueSkies began the long-awaited sightseeing tours over Curaçao last week. Prior to obtaining the license, BlueSkies Helicopter successfully went through the five (5) stages of the certification process. 

This process was completed with good results, thanks to cooperation with Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority, which assisted with qualified inspectors on the helicopter type Bell 206B3 Jetranger.

During the certification, every aspect of the business was inspected, particularly with regard to safety and compliance with both the ICAO regulations as applicable local requirements.

By providing BlueSkies Helicopter with the license, the Curaçao government facilitates the establishment of a new economic activity and stimulates thus the further development of the island’s tourism product.
