WILLEMSTAD, CARACAS – One of the main concerns from the government of Curaçao was that there are several people from the island stranded in Venezuela. Many of them tried several times to contact airlines at the Maiquetias airport to see if there are flights back to the island but to no avail.

Some of them were even getting desperate because of their situation. No money and no food.

The good news is that, according to sources, these travelers are returning to Curaçao and hopefully by the end of this week they will all be back.

There were reports yesterday about Venezuela lifting the ban but these are not true. Venezuela still stands firm on their decision. The islands have to sign the agreement reached last Friday before they can open their borders again and continue with the air and maritime connection between the countries.
