PHILIPSBURG–The Council of Ministers has appointed former Justice Minister Rafael Boasman as St. Maarten’s Quartermaster of the Integrity Chamber with the task of setting up the institution in St. Maarten.
The setting up of the Integrity Chamber involves finding an office and hiring qualified staff to run the operations, among other things.
The Netherlands has appointed Hans Lodder as its Quartermaster. He is expected to visit St. Maarten soon. Communication between the two quartermasters has already commenced, as preparations for the establishment of the Integrity Chamber remains of utmost importance for Government.
Boasman paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Leona Romeo Marlin on Friday. He outlined his activities thus far and expressed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him to execute his task.
Boasman served as Justice Minister on behalf of United St. Maarten Party (US Party) in the William Marlin II Cabinet and briefly as prime minister when Marlin was pressed by the Dutch Government to resign following an impasse over the acceptance of Dutch recovery aid following Hurricane Irma.
