A small army of volunteers took over Pointe Blanche Beach Saturday morning as part the annual “St. Maarten Doet” (SXM Does).
They cleared what was mostly trash washed up on the rocky beach from the ocean. This beach like more of the north west coast of the island becomes a depositing spot for the constant ocean debris. Along with trash from the ocean, the volunteers, along with some area residents, cleared hurricane debris from the beach and surrounding area.
Heavy equipment was used to haul away large items. This clean-up was one of a number of SXM Doet projects around the country. Projects are created by individuals or group and executed under the SXM Doet umbrella. “Doet” projects were carried out throughout the Dutch Kingdom this weekend.
