PHILIPSBURG–Member of Parliament (MP) Theodore Heyliger was interrogated by National Detective Agency (Landsrecherche) officials on Monday in connection with the criminal case “Catfish.”

The Catfish investigation started in March 2013 after former MP Romain Laville filed an official complaint of attempted bribery to “jump ship.” A number of witnesses have been interrogated and important documents analysed.

The leader of the United People’s Party was interrogated for about five hours.

Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Norman Serphos confirmed that the questioning had taken place and said the suspects C.H.M. (53), J.M.S. (68) and R.J.L. (39) are also being questioned for their involvement in the criminal case.

As the investigation is in full swing additional witnesses are asked to come forward and contact the National Detective Agency, if necessary via the number for anonymous witnesses (721) 527-2623. Other suspects will also be questioned in the coming days.

The Catfish investigation is being carried out by the National Detective Agency under the authority of the Prosecutor’s Office.
