Pride For me it is simply unfathomable that people have the audacity to discuss this topic. What is it that makes us believe that we have the right to question anybody’s gender or sex for that matter?

It is typical that the majority of people that question this topic, at least locally that is, are the people that their roots have suffered under the same circumstances as they themselves are doing to the homosexual today. Oppression! Using personal and favorable quotes from the bible in their eagerness to oppress and judge the homosexual.

The question is what do these people think? That they are God? Even the Pope has clearly and fervently stated that we must respect everybody’s gender. The bible furthermore also clearly states that we must love our fellow human being. How dare people then consider homosexuality as a curse?

It has long been proven that homosexuality is a natural thing. Obviously, we as human beings have a lot to learn. Let us start by respecting each other. Irrespective of race, color, religion, creed, gender and/or ethnicity. Enough is enough.

    Agricultuur —-> Seù

    But, bring it on!

  5. Here you go @Brain S

Sexuality and gender identity-based cultures can form a subculture; a community which consist of people with shared experiences, backgrounds, or interests due to their common sexual or gender identity. Adolf Brand argued that members of sexual minorities could also be regarded as a cultural minorities.

Definition Subculture: a concept from sociology and cultural studies; a group of people within a culture that differentiates itself from the parent culture. Subcultures develop their own norms and values regarding cultural, political and sexual matters. Thus, OTHER than the main culture!

  6. @hoedanook, maybe you should explain first what is Curacao culture?
Gay people are part of Curacao and as a result part of curacao culture!

Why don’t you do some research prior to fomenting an opinion. Nobody questions anybody’s sexual orientation or even his/her right to ‘come out’ and celebrate. (The majority would not dare since the Pope condones this behavior ). What is being questioned is the role of government, particularly our Prime Minister in this matter and what he is trying to signal with his opening of ‘Curaçao Pride 2017’. This event is being sold as (an intrinsic) part of Curaçao culture. Objections, particularly against the latter, are being expressed.

‘Curaçao Pride’ is not a celebration of Curaçao culture. And, since you would like to bring the Pope in this, it should be stated that the publication of Amoris Laetita, a post-modern proclamation of Pope Francis, has unleashed confusion and turmoil within almost every corner of the Catholic Church. A document made public by Cardinals Raymond Burke, Joachim Meisner, Walter Brandmüller, and Carlo Caffarra, express their profound doubts about certain aspects of Amoris Laetitia. For most Catholics these different interpretations of Amoris Laetitia are unsettling. They clearly fracture the unity of Catholicism and bring the Church to the brink of doctrinal chaos.
‘Curaçao Pride’ is a postmodern expression of individualism which is almost totally anti-Religion. Therefore, goes against the grain our being and heritage. Rhuggenaath could be motivated by the economic aspect of this matter only (??). Since he represents our government he should, at least clarify, his position on this matter. His previous use of the US Declaration of Independence in justification is totally nonsensical.

The celebration of universal dignity IS our culture. Human dignity and intrinsic value as nothing to do with a person’s skin, ancestry, bank balance or sexual orientation. You are right it IS time
