Jan 25 (Reuters) – Curacao refinery’s supervising board has proposed firing the facility’s director, Roderick van Kwartel, following a corruption probe related to the selection of a new operating company, the board said on Friday.
Curacao’s 335,000-barrel-per-day (bpd) Isla refinery, owned by the Caribbean government and operated by Venezuela’s state-run PDVSA, has been trying to find a firm willing to rent the facility starting in 2020.
An internal investigation revealed wrongdoing during the process by van Kwartel and two other employees who were trying to run a parallel selection process, the board said in a press release.
