In an interview ahead of a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the 81-year-old said that for the first time in his career he was baffled by the current state of the market, and saw no way to avoid a violent crisis which at its worst could result in the total collapse of the financial system.
Known as the “man who broke the Bank of England” after betting against the pound on Black Wednesday in 1992, Mr Soros plans to use his Davos address to issue a stern warning that he now considers it “more likely than not” that Greece will default in 2012. And unless Europe’s leaders do more to stop it, the euro is likely to collapse with a devastating impact on the rest of the world, he will add.
The financier compared the crisis to the collapse of the Soviet empire and the Great Depression, adding that the old belief in the power of the market to prevent turmoil could no longer be relied upon.
He told Newsweek: “The euro must survive because the alternative – a break-up – would cause a meltdown that Europe, the world, can’t afford. I’m not here to cheer you up. The situation is about as serious and difficult as I’ve known in my career. We are facing now a general retrenchment in the developed world.
“The best-case scenario is a deflationary environment. The worst-case scenario is a collapse of the financial system. We need to move from the Age of Reason to the Age of Fallibility in order to have a proper understanding of the problems.”

Voordat je nu allerlei onzin uit gaat kramen is het misschien handig om even de site van het toeristen bureau te bekijken. Daar kun je namelijk de statistieken vinden en die zijn het niet helemaal met jou eens.

Joep, volgens mij weet jij zeer weinig over Curacao. De Amerikaanse toerisme op Curacao bestaat veel langer dan de Europese. Daarna komt toerisme uit de regio. Toerisme uit Europa is pas de laatste jaren op gang gekomen. Dus zonder kan het ook, geen man over boord.

En waar zou dat overal elders op het internet dan wel niet moeten zijn ?
Bovendien mis je de essentie van de opmerking van Wilders. Zijn analyse, en die van veel experts, was terecht. Griekenland gaat het beleid niet aanpassen, het potverteren gaat door oftewel het land gaat ten onder. De burger bevolking meer belasten, maar de corruptie niet aanpakken kan nu eenmaal niet goed aflopen.
En met Griekenland gaan veel andere landen volledig ten onder. Geen leuk vooruitzicht als je het mij vraagt.
Houdt namelijk in dat we de toeristen uit Europa wel op ons buik kunnen schrijven en dat zal aardig wat gevolgen hebben hier op het eiland. Mag je zelf proberen uit te vogelen wat die gevolgen zijn. Zal je een tip geven: ‘geen sector zal er aan kunnen ontkomen’.

Tja, dat krijg je met politici die niet weten wat ze aan het doen zijn. Met alle geweld moesten landen als Griekenland, Bulgarije, Hongarije, Slovenië, Kroatië, Spanje, Portugal en zelfs Italië bij de EU.
Corruptie is daar de norm van de dag en een sluitende begroting hebben ze nog nooit van gehoord.
Daar plukken we nu de vruchten van.
Geert Wilders had het een paar jaar geleden geheel bij het rechte eind: ‘Geen cent naar Griekenland, we zien het nooit meer terug’.
